New Design Trend to Implement Now!

Design is ALWAYS Personal

I've shared with you before that I was born to be a designer! That means I am always looking for what is coming next when it comes to trends.

However, trendy is not alway practical and it may not fit your personal preferences so I always say, we design for you. It's what you love, and what will fill you with happiness to live within.

With that in mind, here is a big trend to consider when updating your home.

There is no better designer than nature ~Alexander McQueen

You may be noticing the environmental consciousness that is arising in our world. When it comes to Interior Design, the trend is no different and we are seeing multiple ways to incorporate nature inspired design in the home.

For example, you could consider a mix of the following to update your space:

Nature-inspired color palettes. Think of your favorite natural environment: The blues of the ocean, the colors of the sandy beach, or maybe the vivid colors of a sunset, the warmth of the desert or the stillness of the forest. Nature's color palette is endless.

Mimic Nature through Shapes: The curves of waves, the ridges of sand dunes, the winding vines of a jungle inspire many of the pieces we see today. Nature is not hard-edges but rather roundness and irregularity.

Textures: Invest in decor and furniture that imitate natural materials. Think of flooring and wall coverings made of wood and stone. Woven furniture or accents along with live houseplants add to the nature-inspired design theme

Consider Air Flow and Natural Light: Sunshine and fresh air are good for the soul! Work to make your windows as unobstructed as possible--using hidden shades or blinds during the day or curtains that can be opened wide. Replace heavy curtains or rugs with lighter or billowy counterparts

Warm lighting: When the sun has set and you are settling in, ensure your home is outfitted with lighting options. Instead of only table lamps or harsh recessed lighting, explore a variety of options to light your space. There are so many new lighting options available then even a few short years ago.

Kitchen Design Mistakes To Avoid!

4/19/2023

Are you thinking about a Kitchen Remodel?

We all know that kitchen remodeling can be an exciting, yet daunting project, and it's important to avoid common mistakes that can lead to headaches and regrets down the line. Here are some kitchen remodeling mistakes to watch out for:

Neglecting the layout:

A functional layout is key to a successful kitchen remodel. It is important to prioritize this early on in the planning process. Consider the "work triangle" of your stove, sink, and refrigerator, and ensure that there's enough counter space and storage to support your cooking and entertaining needs.

Forgetting to include enough electrical outlets
There is nothing more frustrating that preparing a meal and not having enough outlets for your appliance needs. Be sure to consider adding more outlet than you think you'll need!

Overlooking lighting:
Good lighting is crucial in the kitchen, both for functionality and ambiance. Make sure to incorporate multiple light sources, such as overhead fixtures, under-cabinet lighting, and task lighting, to create a well-lit and inviting space.

Skimping on storage: Kitchen storage can never be too much, so it's important to plan for adequate storage solutions. Consider adding extra cabinets or pantry space, and think creatively about how to make the most of your space, such as using vertical storage or pull-out shelves. It is important to consider the appliances you use regularly and how much space they need to be stored conveniently.

Choosing trendy over timeless:
While it can be tempting to follow the latest kitchen trends, it's important to consider long-term style and functionality. Choose durable materials and classic designs that will stand the test of time, and incorporate trends in small, easily changeable elements, such as paint or accessories.

By avoiding these common mistakes, you can ensure a successful and enjoyable kitchen remodel that will serve you well for years to come.

Kitchen remodeling can be a fun and exciting adventure!

If you are considering a kitchen remodel, let's meet and talk about how I can help. We can create the kitchen of your dreams while sticking to a budget. I know where to save and where to spend and how to get the look you want and the functionality you need.
