The Holidays are Looming!

6/30/2026

I know, I know. You just packed away your sweaters. The kids are out of school. You've got a cold drink in hand and a summer playlist going. The last thing you want to think about is Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas...

But here's the thing — your kitchen is thinking about it. And it's a little nervous.

Because if you've been eyeing those gorgeous new countertops online, dreaming of cabinetry that actually fits your giant roasting pan, or wondering what it would feel like to host the holidays in a kitchen that doesn't make you want to hide in the bathroom… now — right now, this summer — is your moment.

Why Summer Is the Secret Weapon for Kitchen Remodels
I've been doing this for a long, long time (we'll leave it at that, though I will say I knew I wanted to be an interior designer before I knew long division). I've watched trends come and go. Avocado green appliances. Tuscan everything. Open shelving that looked amazing in magazines and terrifying in real life.

And one thing I've learned? The best time to remodel a kitchen is when you don't desperately need your kitchen.

Summer is spectacular for this. Your grill is your best friend. Pizza delivery exists. And in a matter of weeks, you can have a kitchen transformation underway — without the panic of doing it in October when you're already planning your menu for fourteen people and your mother-in-law is coming.

Start now, and by the time the turkey goes in the oven, you'll be hosting in a kitchen so gorgeous it'll make your guests forget to complain about anything else.

The Kitchen You Didn't Know You Had
Here's something I love to show clients — and it never gets old: you may already have space for your dream kitchen. You're just not using it yet.

Think about your formal dining room. When did you last eat in there? I mean really eat in there — not just walk through it to get to the kitchen. For most families, it hosts one, maybe 2 holiday dinners, and about eleven months of "we should really use this room more."

What if that space became an amazing butler's pantry? Or a gorgeous expanded kitchen with an actual island you could sit at? Butler's pantries are one of the hottest trends right now, and for good reason — they're functional, beautiful, and they make hosting feel effortless. Extra storage, a prep sink, a spot for the wine fridge, a staging area so your actual kitchen stays clean while guests mill about.
Chef's kiss. 💋

(I also love to cook, so I have strong feelings about the kitchen. It is the heart of your home, after all)

Back entries and mudrooms are another spectacular opportunity. A thoughtful redesign can transform a chaotic catch-all into a stunning walk-in pantry that changes how your entire kitchen functions. I've seen it happen, and I've seen clients cry happy tears. It's a whole thing.

Where to Spend. Where to Save. (I Know the Difference.)

One of the gifts of doing this work for as long as I have is knowing exactly where your remodeling dollars make the biggest impact — and where they don't need to go.

Countertops: Worth it. A gorgeous stone or quartz surface elevates the entire room. I know exactly where to shop to get spectacular quality without spending like you're outfitting a palace. (Though if you want a palace vibe, I can do that too.)

Cabinetry: Off-the-shelf cabinets are... fine. But fine doesn't get you the drawer that fits your largest sheet pan. Fine doesn't give you the pull-out that holds your cast iron without a fight. Fine doesn't give you the coffee bar that streamlines your mornings. I work with craftsmen who build custom cabinetry that fits your pots, your plates, and your style. Soft-close everything, because life is too short for a slamming cabinet door. These pieces are investments you'll appreciate every single day — especially when you're pulling off a spectacular holiday dinner without breaking a sweat.

Appliances, fixtures, and finishes: I'll guide you to the right choices for your budget. Not every line item needs to be top-of-the-line. Knowing the difference is what I'm here for.

And Yes — The Bathrooms Too

While we're talking about getting your home guest-ready, let's not overlook the powder room your holiday guests will actually see. A bathroom refresh — new vanity, updated lighting, amazing tile — can completely transform how your home feels to visitors. It's often one of the highest-impact, most affordable updates you can make. And I've never met a guest who didn't notice a gorgeous bathroom.

Here's the Part Where I Tell You Why This Is a No-Brainer
I have the contractors, the craftsmen, the sources, and — after all these years — the hard-won knowledge to make your remodel smooth, beautiful, and done before you need to brine a turkey.

I've built with contractors and vendors over the years. And when you work with me, you get is someone in your corner who will hire the right people, supervise the work, help you choose finishes and fixtures that fit your style and your budget, and make sure the finished result looks like what you actually wanted — not some confusing compromise that happened because things got complicated and someone had to make a decision at 7am on a Monday.

Speaking of decisions at 7am — let's talk about what happens when you don't use a designer.

You and your spouse will stand in a tile showroom for three hours. You will not agree on the backsplash. You will say things you can't take back about each other's taste. You will eventually choose something that neither of you loves because you're both hungry and exhausted and realized you forgot to pick up the kids at hockey and dance practice. And honestly, who can make a good decision about subway tile under those conditions? The contractor will interpret your instructions generously. The result will be… fine. But fine isn't what you were dreaming of when this whole thing started.

I'm not just here to make your kitchen gorgeous. I'm here to protect your most important relationships. (You're welcome.)

There's never a perfect time.
There's just the time you decide to finally do it.

Is Your Kitchen Driving You Insane?

5/21/2026

Picture

Is your kitchen feeling more like a chaotic catch-all than the heart of your home? In other words, is your kitchen driving you insane?

Are you dreaming of a space that sparks joy, inspires culinary adventures, and makes entertaining a breeze, but just don't know where to start?

I've been obsessed with beautiful, functional spaces since I was a little girl rearranging the furniture in my bedroom. Decades later, nothing has changed — except now my clients end up with kitchens they actually love walking into in the morning.

This is the room that has the single biggest impact on your daily life, your home's value, and honestly, your mood.

There's nothing quite like the magic of a kitchen remodel. Whether your kitchen just needs a fresh new look with updated finishes, or you're ready for a complete overhaul that redefines your space, I'm here to make it fun, easy, and absolutely stunning.

You Don't have to Go Big to Go Beautiful...
A kitchen transformation doesn't have to mean tearing everything down to the studs (although we can absolutely do that if you want — and it is so satisfying).

Sometimes the biggest impact comes from the most targeted changes.

New cabinet hardware. A stunning backsplash. Under-cabinet lighting that finally makes your countertops glow. There are all sorts of updates that take a kitchen from "ugh" to "oh wow" without the full remodel price tag.

Not sure where to start? That's literally what I'm here for.

Ready to Go All In? Let's Talk Full Remodel...

For those of you who've been quietly dreaming bigger — I see you, and I am so ready for this conversation.

A full kitchen remodel is one of the most rewarding projects a homeowner can do. We're talking new cabinetry, countertops, flooring, lighting, appliances, layout — the whole picture reimagined from scratch. And when it's done, you will wonder how you ever lived any other way.

Here's something most people don't think about until I bring it up: Your dream kitchen might already be hiding in your house.

That formal dining room you use twice a year? It could be absorbed into a gorgeous, expansive kitchen with an island, a breakfast bar, and actual room to breathe. That eating nook that's currently functioning as a landing pad for backpacks, mail, and the general chaos of life? It could become a beautiful built-in banquette or a seamless open-concept flow into a larger kitchen space.

Sometimes the best square footage you can add is the square footage you already have.

And Yes — We Can Actually Add On...
If your heart is set on more space and there simply isn't enough to borrow from inside, we can talk additions. A thoughtfully designed kitchen addition can transform the entire back of your home and become the gathering hub your family has always needed.

I don't just hand you a design and wish you luck. I stay with you through the whole process, from the first sketch to the final cabinet pull.

My team of trusted professionals – from cabinetry wizards and flooring experts to lighting gurus and skilled contractors – are ready to bring your vision to life. We handle everything, ensuring a seamless process from concept to completion. You get to enjoy the exciting parts, and I'll take care of the rest!

Every single day you spend in a kitchen that doesn't work for you is a day of unnecessary frustration. Life is too short for bad lighting and not enough counter space. And here's the practical side — kitchen remodels consistently deliver some of the highest returns of any home improvement project, both in resale value and in quality of daily life.

There's never a perfect time. There's just the time you decide to finally do it.

For a limited time, you can schedule your initial 2-hour in-home consultation for just $99 (a $300 value!). We'll talk about your space, your vision, your budget, and what's actually possible — and I promise you'll leave that conversation with at least three ideas you hadn't thought of before.

Reach out today and let's make your kitchen the room everyone ends up in — because they actually want to be there. (612)965-9990

Is Your Bathroom Driving You Insane?

4/22/2026

Picture

Can we talk for a second? I mean, really talk. How much time do you actually spend in your bathroom? Between the morning skincare routine, the "just five more minutes" in the shower, and the late-night teeth brushing, we are spending a lot more time in there than we might think! So, let me ask you: Shouldn’t you absolutely love the space you’re in?

If your current bathroom feels more like a 1990s time capsule than a relaxing retreat, it’s time for a change. You deserve a space that is as fabulous as you are!

The "Great Tub Debate": Is Your Space Being Held Hostage? Remember those massive jacuzzi tubs from the 90s and early 2000s? They were the height of luxury back then, but let’s be honest—how often are they really being used? They take forever to fill and most of the time, they just sit there, taking up half the room and collecting dust (or worse, laundry!).

That is wasted space, my friends! Imagine reclaiming that square footage for a massive, spa-like walk-in shower with multiple shower heads, or even a sleek, freestanding soaking tub that actually looks like a piece of art.

Elevate Your Surfaces with Cambria
When we talk about making a bathroom truly gorgeous, we have to talk about the details. I am obsessed with Cambria Natural Quartz. Their new designs like St. Isley™ and Traymore Bay™ are absolutely breathtaking. My sales rep mentioned new styles will be released very soon and I plan to be one of the first to see what magic Cambria has created this spring.

And here’s a little secret: I receive special pricing at Cambria—much better than if you were to walk into the showroom and order it yourself. Plus, you’ll only pay for what you need, not an entire slab! This means you get fabulous design at an even more gorgeous price point.

Why settle for boring when you can have a countertop that is:            Stain-resistant (because life happens!)
       Maintenance-free (no sealing required!)
Stunningly beautiful (the organic textures are to die for!)

Pair those counters with some updated flooring and tile that you actually love to look at every morning, and you’ve got a recipe for a masterpiece.

Let There Be (Better) Light!
One of the biggest crimes in bathroom design? The "builder’s mirror." You know the one—that giant sheet of mirrored glass that fills up the entire wall and makes everything look flat. Get rid of it!

Instead, let’s go for framed mirrors that add character, or even backlit LED mirrors for that perfect "get ready" glow. And please, let’s talk about lighting. Sconces at eye level are much more flattering than those harsh overhead lights that create shadows in all the wrong places. We want you looking and feeling your best!

Don't Let Your Bathroom Drive You Insane...
If your bathroom layout is missing the mark or you’re just tired of looking at (and trying to clean) that old tile, don't let it drive you crazy. Whether it’s a simple upgrade to your toilet and fixtures or a full-blown "rip it out and start over" remodel, I am here to help.

And as I always say... "Don’t let your bathroom drive you insane, just call Jayne!"

Enjoy up to two hours of personalized, in-home design guidance for just $99. Whether you’re refining your vision or selecting finishes like paint and flooring, we’ll focus on what matters most to you.. Let’s make your home reflect you—not the builder from 1995!

Stay Fabulous!

Warm, Curvy, Cozy:  the 2026 Trends To Know

3/8/2026

Picture
I just returned from the Las Vegas Spring Market — one of my favorite times of the year. It’s where designers see what’s actually coming — not just what’s predicted — and I always come back inspired, energized, and ready to help you make your home feel even more like you.

This year, one theme was clear:

Warm. Curvy. Cozy. Embracing Comfort.
Gone are the days of stark greys and sharp angles. Instead, we’re seeing:
  • Warm tones — think creamy beiges, soft browns, terracottas, buttery neutrals, and warm metals that bring life and comfort into every room.
  • Rounded forms everywhere — from club chairs to coffee tables, sofas to sinks. Curves invite comfort and feel inviting on both a visual and emotional level.
  • Textured layers — boucle, knit, soft leathers, and natural woods that add depth, coziness, and personality.

Even though much of the buzz is around furniture and accessories, the principles behind these trends matter for spaces you live in every day — especially your kitchen and bath. This is where smart updates make the biggest impact!

What This Means for Your Kitchen + Bath

Your home is your recharge station — a place that fuels your happiness, your routines, your gatherings, and yes… your love of life. If your kitchen or bathroom feels cold, disconnected, or outdated, the result can be more than aesthetic — it can drain your energy over time.

Here are a few design directions I’m seeing that work beautifully in remodels:

❤️ Warm palettes: Soft creams, latte tones, warm white cabinetry paired with warm stone or quartz surfaces feel timeless — not trendy-for-a-season.
❤️ Curved islands or counters: Rounded islands or waterfall counters with softer edges create flow and promote movement — literally and emotionally.
❤️ Mixed materials: Warm woods + metal accents + layered lighting brings spaces to life without feeling heavy.
❤️ Curated comfort: Even in kitchens, elements like rounded bar stools or sculptural lighting bring softness to a hardworking room.

You work hard. Your home ought to feel comforting, functional, and beautiful — not frustrating.

So, if your kitchen layout doesn’t work…
If your bathroom feels dated and cramped…
If your living room still whispers 2004…

Don’t let your house drive you insane.
Call Jayne. (Of course that's me!)

Ready to Love Your Home Again?
Whether it’s a full kitchen remodel, a bath refresh, or simply updating key furniture pieces to bring in warmth and movement, I’d love to help you create a space that truly feels like home.

There's no better time to start than today.

To Remodel or Refresh...That is the Question

11/20/2025

Picture

As November settles in and the Minnesota chill starts to bite, we naturally gravitate toward the heart of the home — the kitchen. It’s where we cook, connect, celebrate, and inevitably gather (even when you swear the party is in the living room). 🍾

So if your kitchen feels a bit dated, cramped, or just not as amazing as you know it could be… this is the perfect moment to dream bigger. A few thoughtful updates — or a full refresh — can transform your everyday life. Truly.

I absolutely LOVE helping clients create kitchens that function beautifully and look downright gorgeous. Whether you want to streamline holiday hosting, brighten dark corners, upgrade finishes, or finally get the storage you deserve, we can make magic happen together.

✨ 5 Amazing Things to Think About When Updating Your Kitchen

1. Function First — Your Lifestyle Leads the Design
Before picking hardware or cabinet colors, think about how you live.
Do you meal-prep like a pro? Bake with grandkids? Host the entire neighborhood?
When the layout supports your rhythm, everything becomes easier — and a whole lot more fun.

2. Gorgeous Storage = A Gorgeous Kitchen
Let’s be honest: clutter is the fastest way to kill a beautiful space.
Pull-out trays, deep drawers, spice pull-outs, vertical dividers, hidden appliance garages — these smart solutions instantly elevate the kitchen and make it feel twice as big.
This is where design truly shines.

3. Light It Up! (It Makes Everything Look Amazing)
Minnesota winters are dark — your kitchen shouldn’t be.
Layered lighting is the secret: ambient for overall warmth, task lighting for prep zones, and accent lighting for drama and mood.
A fabulous pendant or a stunning chandelier? Yes, please.

4. Surfaces That Are Both Beautiful and Practical
Quartz and granite countertops continue to rule Minnesota for durability. Pair it with matte cabinetry, warm woods, champagne bronze hardware, or mixed metals for a kitchen that feels modern and luxurious.
These little details make the whole space feel intentionally designed.

5. Color That Makes You Smile Every Single Day
Whether you’re dreaming of rich navy, creamy taupe, bold black, warm walnut, or a fresh, airy white — color sets the tone.
And don’t underestimate the impact of new hardware… sometimes that quick swap delivers a shockingly gorgeous result.

If your kitchen is whispering, “It’s time,” let’s talk. Whether you’re thinking small updates or a full remodel, I’d love to help you create a space that feels amazing, functions beautifully, and brings joy every day.

Is it Time to Remodel or Just Refresh? How to Know What your Kitchen Really Needs...
Sometimes you walk into your kitchen and think, “Something has GOT to change.”
But does that mean a full remodel… or just a few amazing updates?

Here’s the truth:
If the layout drives you crazy, the workflow doesn’t make sense, storage is a disaster, or you find yourself dancing around appliances just to make dinner — it’s remodel time. A new layout can completely transform how you live in the space.

If the bones are good but the finishes feel dated (hello, 2000s tile backsplash--yes, that is already 25 years ago), the lighting is dull, or the hardware is dragging down the whole look — an update might be all you need to make your kitchen feel fresh and gorgeous again.

Still unsure? That’s where I come in. I help you see what stays, what changes, and what will make the biggest impact for your budget.

Las Vegas Market Design Trends of 2025

8/13/2025

Picture
(Aug 2025)
I’m back from the Las Vegas Market — the interior design world’s version of Disneyland (only with better lighting and none of the endless lines). It’s where the latest trends, the best new pieces, and the most inspiring ideas come together — and where I spend my days touching fabrics, testing furniture, and talking design with my favorite vendors.

Because here’s the thing: I believe the home is an extension of the self — who we are, what we value, and how we want to feel in our everyday lives. That’s why I seek out design touches that are beautiful, timeless, and never overdone.

And let me tell you — this year’s Market did not disappoint. Here’s what’s hot right now:
  • Warm Tones — think caramel, rich browns, oatmeal, and warm grays that make a space feel instantly inviting.
  • Curves Everywhere — from sofas to headboards, even coffee tables — the soft, rounded edges add comfort and style.
  • Champagne Bronze Metals — showing up in light fixtures, cabinet hardware, and accessories for a sophisticated glow.

These trends aren’t just “what’s in” — they’re design details that create spaces you can live in and love. Warm colors soothe, curves invite you in, and champagne bronze adds just the right sparkle.

If your home feels a little cold, tired, or stuck in another decade, now is the perfect time to bring in these warm, welcoming looks. I can help you tailor these trends to your space so they feel fresh, personal, and oh-so-you.

📞 Call me today and let’s start creating a home that inspires you — every single day.

Until next time,

Cheers!

Rethinking the Formal Dining Room

6/16/2025

Let’s talk about the formal dining room—that rarely used space that once played host to holiday dinners and the “good china.” Times have changed, and so have our lifestyles. Today’s families crave spaces that are functional, beautiful, and most of all, used.

As someone who’s been designing homes for nearly 40 years, I’ve seen just how much value—and joy—can come from reimagining these traditional rooms. One of my recent favorite transformations? A formal dining room turned into an elegant piano room. Click the link to watch the video above...(will open in a new window)

🎶 Picture this:
  • A stunning baby grand piano as the centerpiece

  • A dramatic black and white rug to anchor the space

  • Sophisticated wallpaper that adds texture and flair

  • And a breathtaking light fixture that enhances the room’s energy without overshadowing the instrument

The result? A room that’s no longer closed off and forgotten, but alive with music, style, and personality.

Whether it’s a piano room, an expansion of your kitchen, a home library, a cocktail lounge, or a cozy reading nook—your unused dining room has so much potential. Let’s design a space that reflects how you live now, not how your grandmother entertained guests in 1975.

If your home has a room that’s gathering dust instead of memories, you know what to do: Don’t let your house drive you insane—call Jayne!

It Won't be Cheaper Later!

5/13/2025

Picture
Let me ask you something:
When you walk through your front door, do you feel energized, inspired, and at home—or do you feel like your walls are silently judging you for that 2009 paint color?

If it’s the latter, it’s officially time to remodel. And not just because I say so, but because right now is the best time you’ll have to invest in your home before prices rise even more.

The truth is, materials costs are creeping up, labor is in high demand, and suppliers are already hinting at another round of price increases. Waiting “just one more year” could mean blowing your budget on the same tile you can snag today for a song (okay, maybe not a cheap song—).

So, what should you update?
Glad you asked. Let’s talk trends with staying power:

🛁 Spa-Like Bathrooms – Think walk-in showers with matte black fixtures, floating vanities, backlit mirrors, and a soothing, natural palette. Your morning routine just became a wellness ritual.

🍽 Statement Kitchens – Say goodbye to boring white and hello to deep navy or forest green cabinetry, fluted wood details, mixed metal hardware, and bold backsplashes. Quartz counters are still king, but we’re layering them with personality.

🛋 Multi-Use Living Rooms – Whether you’re WFH, doing yoga, or corralling kids, open-concept spaces now need zones. Built-in shelving, cozy reading nooks, and textured wall treatments are making a huge comeback.

🎨 Color Comebacks – Warm neutrals, earthy terracottas, and moody hues are dominating walls and furniture. White and gray? Still classics—but they need a little drama to keep up.

🌿 Biophilic Design – Translation: more plants, natural light, organic textures, and indoor/outdoor flow. It’s not just pretty—it’s proven to reduce stress and increase focus.

But Here’s the Big One:
Updating your home = increasing your home value.

Whether you plan to sell in five years or never, a well-designed remodel can bump your resale price by tens of thousands. Kitchens and bathrooms still reign supreme for ROI, and even cosmetic updates (hello, new lighting and paint!) can pack a punch.

But beyond the dollars, let’s talk sanity.
You spend so much of your life at home—it should support your lifestyle, reflect your personality, and bring you joy. If there is a space that is annoying you instead of lifting you up, something’s got to change.

And guess what? That “something” is not you.
It’s your layout. Your fixtures. Your decade-old tile.
That’s where I come in.

✨ Ready to love where you live again?
Let’s turn your home into a haven that works for you—not against you.

Call me, text me, send a telegram—I’m here for your remodel rescue.
Because life’s too short for ugly countertops and beige regrets.

Don’t let your house drive you insane. Call Jayne!
